Has anyone else noticed that questions asked of the St. Michaels town commissioners by some meeting attendees have been going unanswered lately? Is it possible that their “Different Direction” is really little more than reverse transparency?
During the July 28th meeting several folks asked questions to which no response was given. One attendee asked what the commission planned to do in the event that a new mask mandate became necessary because of the delta variant. No response was given. A second attendee asked for more information on commissioner duPont’s latest trash plan. He too received no response. A third person also questions the newly proposed trash plan and also asked for a list of all properties owned by each town commissioner. No response giver here either. It is interesting to note that the three folks who did not receive a response to their questions have been critical of the actions of several of these current commissioners in the recent past.
If, indeed, these commissioners are practicing reverse transparency, it will do little more than to cause questions to pile up. We still have unanswered questions left over from the first meeting in July. We are still waiting to hear why they fired Jean Weisman, the town manager. We still have not been told how must this new temporary guy is costing us either. We would do well to remember that most of these same commissioners campaigned on a need for more transparency, not less. It seems that the theme Practice What You Preach may not be something most of this crowd of commissioners is interested in embracing!

I believe there are many folks out there that are waiting for responses from the Commissioners! Thank you for keeping this in the forefront of local news. It’s interesting to think that this current group of Commissions may think that by not answering, all issues will fade away. In fact, by not addressing these concerns head on, or being transparent and inclusive in developing a resolution, they are fueling the fire of gossip running rampant.
I sure hope this is not the “new direction” St. Michaels is heading.

Thank you for voicing the concerns of many of us

Jamie Windon resigned as Commissioner of St Michaels, one of the best and brightest to ever serve the Town. I can’t believe she hung in there with this SMAC crowd as long as she did. What a loss!
