Recently the leader of a recently formed Bipartisan Coalition For New Council Leadership acknowledged a significant change of their goal in next month’s County Council elections. Their new goal is the defeat of Councilwoman Jennifer Williams.
Could it be that the campaign against Councilwoman Williams is based on anger and frustration over her ability to secure consensus and majority votes on common sense compromises on a wide range of complex issues before the Council? Could it be that Councilwoman Williams does not embrace a “my way or the highway” approach to leadership knowing that common sense compromises reflect respect for all views? Could it be this new alliance is nothing more than old wine in new wine skins through the joining together of four special interest groups who have been unsuccessful in their efforts to affirm widespread public support for their narrow and selfish view of what Talbot County should be going forward?
In response to this “new” alliance, Common Sense Talbot has been launched.
Common Sense Talbot is a group of like-minded Talbot County citizens from diverse demographic and employment backgrounds united in support of candidates who will continue to make thoughtful, smart, common sense-based decisions. These common sense decisions will create and maintain a strong resilient community for all citizens for years to come. Common Sense Talbot understands that a majority of our citizens cherish our past while embracing our future.
Between now and the November elections, Common Sense Talbot will present real facts about the solid record of achievements of the Talbot County Council under the leadership of Councilwoman Williams. Common Sense Talbot will also present facts to offset what has been and continues to be a misinformation campaign designed to allow a tyranny of loud voices in our community to impose their views on what is good for Talbot County on all Talbot County residents.

Dear Mr. Bryan–
The answers to the 3 question in your second paragraph are no, no, and no.
The reasons why the Bipartisan Coalition is opposed to Ms. Williams are set out clear as can be at CountyOverParty.org. We oppose her because she is the moving force behind policies that threaten the County’s future and others that have hurt citizens. Someone needed to explain that, and most importantly, PRESENT THE EVIDENCE (from official transcripts, video clips of CC meetings, etc.) All in easily readable format at CountyOverParty.org.
Your description of Common Sense Talbot is a also bit misleading. You describe it verbatim from its website “a group of like-minded Talbot County citizens from diverse demographic and employment backgrounds united in support of candidates who will continue to make thoughtful, smart, common sense-based decisions.” Hardly. Ms. Williams’ husband and Mr. Callahan’s girlfriend are the Chair and Treasurer respectively; they set up this PAC on Oct 10th with offices at Ms. Williams’ home. It was a necessary financing, vehicle since the Republican Central Committee would be obligated to support ALL Republican, but is now committed to excommunicating Ms. Price because of her refusal to bend to the will of Ms. Williams on legislation. Again, all documented on CountyOverParty.org, in section entitled “The Role Of Outside Groups.”
