We all have collections of family photographs; loose prints stuffed in shoe boxes or albums stacked on a closet shelf. Ever wonderful whether they have value? Photography appraiser Marie Martin will discuss what she discovered about her own family’s archive and other collections and provide information on what to look for in “Family Photographs – Treasures or Trash?”, a free lecture at 7 PM on Thursday evening, August 21, at the St. Michaels Branch of the Talbot County Free Library.

As an appraiser of fine art and documentary photography, Marie has had the opportunity to value archives of noted photographers and photojournalists, private or museum collections and vernacular or family photographic collections. She was an instructor at George Washington University Center for
Career Education in photography, image researcher for Clairmont Press, a gallery owner and operator and graduate of the Moore College of Art, Philadelphia. Marie is a resident of St. Michaels and Past President of the Business Association and St. Michaels Museum Board of Directors.
The St. Michaels Art League, assisted by a grant from AT&T and support from the Talbot County Arts Council, is presenting ARTfest, “100 Days of Art” during the summer of 2014. Programs include a series of free public presentations on art, workshops for adults and children, Master Art Classes and a Member Gallery at 106 Railroad Ave., St. Michaels.
