Mary Kellogg will be the speaker for the Brown Bag Lunch at the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library on Monday, December 5, 2016 at noon. Kellogg will show the video and discuss the history and stories of local watermen. Tilghman Tales shares five distinctive stories from the island: The Tilghman Log Canoe, Maynard Lowery, Tilghman Island boat builder, Tilghman Workboats, Tilghman Women on the Walter and The World of William Cummings. Hall and Mary Kellogg moved to Tilghman Island in 1999 and became friends with several of the island watermen. In 2008, they founded the Tilghman Watermen’s Museum. They felt the need to preserve the island’s heritage and culture in a way that could be passed on through the years. The primary purpose of the museum is to capture the stories and the experiences of the watermen before their way of life disappears. The Brown Bag Lunch is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Bring a lunch and enjoy coffee and desert provided by the library. For more information you can call (410) 745-5877 or visit the library website at www.tcfl.org.
