Nancy Wells of Easton, Md. recently joined the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum as Membership Coordinator. Based in the development and membership office, Wells is working to strengthen CBMM’s membership program through member events, merchant discount programs, member’s discounts for educational programs and festivals, communication campaigns, gift memberships, and online membership sales.
Wells brings several years of development and membership experience to the position, through her previous work with Talbot Humane and the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, Md. She studied journalism at Purdue University in West Lafayette, In., with her volunteer work benefiting Talbot Hospice, Empty Bowls, and Waterfowl Festival.
Wells’ connection to the Chesapeake Bay began more than 40 years ago when she and her husband, former CBMM Public Relations Director Forest Wells, moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Wells recalls visiting her husband at CBMM with their son AJ, who would declare his father had too much fun at CBMM for his job to be considered work.
“I am thrilled to be at CBMM and consider myself lucky to be a part of this terrific organization,” commented Wells. “The people, the environment, and the mission are all outstanding.”
Established in 1965, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is a world-class maritime museum dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment, and people of the entire Chesapeake Bay, with the values of relevancy, authenticity, and stewardship guiding its mission. Serving nearly 70,000 guests each year, the museum’s campus includes a floating fleet of historic boats and 12 exhibition buildings, situated on a waterfront campus along the Miles River and St. Michaels’ harbor.
