Oxford Museum Presents A Special Exhibit For The Holidays: Crèches!

On display at the Museum from November 24 to December 17 will be a selection from the Crèche Collection of Oxford resident Barbara Cross, who has over 100 crèches from around the world. The exhibit will include large and small nativity scenes, the smallest less than two inches tall and the largest barely fitting into the two front windows of the Museum, a nativity scene of many characters, including angels and elephants, gifted to Holy Trinity Church and annually on display on their Parish Hall stage.

“I love how the crèches represent different cultures and the various materials that are available where different people live, Ms. Cross shared “The crèche made out of Coke cans is one of my favorites! It is a marvel to see how someone figured out how to create baby Jesus and Mary and Joseph out of Fanta, Sprite, and Coke cans.”

The Collection on display at The Oxford Museum, 101 S. Morris St, will be open to visitors from 12 to 4 PM, Friday through Sunday, from November 24 to December 17. While enjoying the exhibit, you can also take advantage of the Museum’s Shop and do a little bit of your holiday shopping! Admission to the Museum is free of charge.
