Saints suffer three losses in one night

The St Michaels Saints basketball program hosted the Queen Anne Lions on Thursday night in a three game match.

The Saints Junior Varsity team showed a lot of potential but fell to the visiting Lions 69 to 37.  The JV Coach Marcus Palmer was not at this evening’s game so the Varsity Coach John Palmer took over for him.

The Lady Saints Varsity Team had trouble finding the basket all night and lost to the Lady Lions 69 to 7.    The Lady Saints were short handed at the beginning of the game with only seven players suited up due to previous injuries and illness.  Early in the fourth quarter the Lady Saints could only find four players to place on the court and the Queen Anne Coach matched the players, and the game went on four on four.  About half way through the forth quarter the game continued with a three on three lineup until time expired.   The Lady Saints started with seven, lost three to fouling out and two to injuries during the game. My heart goes out to the remaining three Saints who stuck with the program and never quit. I would also like to recognize the Queen Anne Girls basketball coach Jody Hyde for matching the number of players on the court.

The Saints Boys Varsity team made some outstanding plays during their match with the much stronger Queen Anne Lions team.  The Saints were able to sink a number of three point shots but fell to the Lions 73 to 38.  Coach Palmer was able to get everyone on the bench some time on the court to gain experience and improve their skills.

The next home games are scheduled for Tuesday January 31, with a three game lineup just like today.  The Saints will host the North Caroline Bulldogs with the JV game tipping off at 4PM.  The Lady Saints Varsity will follow the JV Match and the Boys Varsity team will follow the Girls game. GO SAINTS.

The senior night for the Girls basketball team is scheduled for February 14 and the Boys senior night is scheduled for February 16.   Let’s all turn out and show our support for the graduating seniors.
