The St Michaels Saints varsity baseball team defeated Dunbar High School 10 to 3 to win the Maryland State 1A Semi-Final game.
Dustin Jones pitched a great game for the Saints against a very strong Dunbar team. Dustin registered 15 strike outs and allowed only 5 hits. Dustin helped his own cause by getting three hits with Kasey Nelson and Brooks Harrison each adding two hits.
The State final contest will be held this Saturday, May 26, at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen Maryland at 1 PM. The Saints will play the winner of the Mountain Ridge High School from Allegany County and Bohemian Manor High School in Cecil County.
We need to remember that in March, Head Coach Brian Femi expressed some concern that the Saints had graduated 11 seniors from the team last year including 8 starters. His hope was that the Saints would win enough games to make a run for the pennant. Well here we are Ladies and Gentlemen, going to the State Final game this Saturday for the fourth time in five years. Congratulations, Saints! As I said last week, you deserve a shot at the State 1A pennant, you earned it. GO SAINTS !
