Sultana Projects is pleased to announce that it is launching a new educational travel program for adults known as “Chesapeake Journeys.” Featuring an annual series of multi-day adventures, Chesapeake Journeys provides opportunities for adults to explore remote areas of the Chesapeake in a relaxed and educational atmosphere.
“For years we’ve received requests to offer programs for adults similar to those we provide children,” said Sultana President Drew McMullen. “With Chesapeake Journeys we’ve done something better by creating a program that’s designed specifically around the interests, needs and expectations of adults.”
Chesapeake Journeys’ 2012 trip schedule features two four-day, three-night kayak-based trips, including:
Lower Delmarva & the Virginia Coast Reserve
June 4-7 / Base camp: The Charlotte Hotel, Onancock, VA
Join us for a fascinating four-day expedition to the Virginia Coast Reserve and the southernmost tip of the Delmarva Peninsula. Based from the Charlotte Hotel in historic Onancock, travelers will spend their days exploring America’s largest undeveloped section of Atlantic coastline, paddling to pristine barrier islands, visiting remote tributaries of the Chesapeake, and taking in the unique culture and history of this isolated area of Virginia.
Berlin, Assateague, & the Pocomoke River
Sept. 18-21 / Base camp: The Atlantic Hotel, Berlin, MD
Striking out each day from base camp at the award-winning Atlantic Hotel in historic Berlin, Maryland, participants in this trip will spend four days exploring the back bays of Assateague Island and the primeval cypress swamps of the upper Pocomoke River (think Jurassic Park without the dinosaurs!). The scenery in this area has made it the backdrop for several Hollywood movies, and it is widely regarded as one of the finest fl at-water paddling destinations on the East Coast.
