Superintendent of Talbot County Public Schools, Dr. Kelly Griffith, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Helga Einhorn to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for TCPS. The position became available with the retirement of Dr. Pamela Heaston.
Dr. Helga Einhorn began her 19-year career in education in the Talbot County Public Schools, where she taught 8th grade Language Arts, as well as 10th and 12th grade English at St. Michaels Middle High School. In 2002, she moved into school administration and served as an Assistant Principal at Kent County High School in Worton, MD. In 2005 she returned to St. Michaels Middle High School as Assistant Principal and in July of 2007 was promoted to Principal of St. Michaels Middle High School. Dr. Einhorn has proven to be a strong instructional leader, promoting effective instructional practices, advancing a culture of academic rigor, fostering the academic success of all students, and maintaining positive, productive relationships with families and the community she has served.
Dr. Kelly Griffith, Superintendent of TCPS stated, “Dr. Einhorn has a proven record of improving and strengthening teaching and learning. She brings a wealth of expertise in curriculum, instruction and assessment, but equally important – a leadership style that is collaborative. She is passionate about children, all children. I believe she will contribute greatly to the work of the school system in educating all students to achieve their maximum potential and graduate college and career ready.”
Dr. Einhorn resides in Sherwood, MD with her husband Ed and two children, Nathan and Melissa. She received her Bachelor of English degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and a Masters of Arts at Salisbury University. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. She officially will begin her post on July 1st.
