Talbot Mentors Welcomes New Executive Director

August 24, 2012 by Spy Desk

Talbot Mentors recently welcomed Paige Jernigan as its new Executive Director. Jernigan takes the lead at the mentoring organization after the departure of Diana Trams, who left due to relocation with her family out of the area this spring.

Jernigan says that the position is a perfect fit for her, as she has a passion for children and the nonprofits that assist them. Originally from Forest City, NC, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, she moved to Easton this summer when her husband’s job brought the family to the area. Thirty-five, with two young daughters, she most recently worked with the YMCA in Columbia, SC, as a Membership Director for one of its branches.

Accustomed to the urban pace of Columbia, Jernigan is enjoying the more relaxed Eastern Shore atmosphere and is looking forward to becoming a part of this community. “I am impressed with what a volunteer-based area this is,” she said. “There are so many philanthropic opportunities here to be a part of something bigger.”

Describing herself as a “positive” person, Jernigan is enthusiastic about working with the students, volunteers, board and staff of Talbot Mentors. “I like that the board of directors is so active,” she added. “I’m super excited to see what we can do and achieve.”

Not currently a mentor herself, Jernigan plans to become one once she settles more into the job. “It’s not only a wonderfully rewarding way to volunteer,” she noted, “but it also will be good for my own children to show them how we can help others through mentoring.”

For more information, to make a contribution, or to volunteer as a mentor, call Talbot Mentors at 410-770-5999 or visit www.talbotmentors.org.
