Easton High Senior Gabriella Streaker and St. Michaels Middle High Senior Brynn Lizewski will represent their schools as student members of the Talbot County Board of Education for the 2024-2025 school year. They were chosen following an application and interview process, and were officially sworn in during the September Board of Education Meeting.
Senior Gabriella Streaker will represent Easton High. She the current President of the National Honor Society, and serves as Treasurer for the Senior Class. She is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team, and National Technical Honor Society, and maintains a 4.2 grade point average. She was recognized as a “Rising Star” on the Easton High Varsity Swim Team, and participates as a partner athlete for Special Olympics and Unified Bocce. She also volunteers for Talbot Interfaith Shelter, Talbot Lions Club, and Anchor Church. Gabriella is currently fulfilling an internship at University of Maryland Shore Regional Medical Center in Easton, assisting in the Emergency Department while shadowing nurses, physician assistants and physicians. She hopes to attend medical school after earning her undergraduate degree in health sciences, with the ultimate goal of becoming a pediatrician or surgeon.
“I am extremely honored and excited to serve as student member of the board, not only to fulfill a position with a high level of leadership but more importantly to represent my peers, teachers, staff, parents and the community,” Gabriella said. “Growing up in the TCPS system has allowed me to gain both educational and personal opportunities which makes this role even more rewarding. I hope to bring a new perspective to the Board of Ed as well as my school during this next year!”
Brynn Lizewski will represent St. Michaels Middle High School. A leader in the classroom and her school community, Brynn is active in Student Government Association, Students Helping Other People, National Art Honor Society, Chess Club, Destination Imagination and Theatre. She has been a member of the Varsity Tennis and Field Hockey teams, earning All Shore, All Bayside and All State honors, and participates in club field hockey and swimming. While maintaining a 4.13 grade point average, she has also interned at For All Seasons in the Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Department, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and the St. Michaels Running Festival. Brynn plans to attend a four-year college or university to study Political Science and Women’s Studies, and subsequently attend law school.
“I am very excited for this new position and cannot wait to have a real insight on local politics. Our small community matters so much and I’m excited to see the backbone of our local education system,” Brynn explained. “I will uphold this position with the utmost respect and am very honored to be granted this opportunity!”
