TCPS Shares Class of 2019 Accomplishments

Easton High and Saint Michaels High schools have reported outstanding results for the graduating class of 2019. Of the combined total of 329 students receiving diplomas, 76% plan to enter a two- or four-year college or technical school, 22% will enter directly into the workforce and 2% will serve our country in the military.

The Saint Michaels Middle High School Class of 2019 included 52 graduates receiving diplomas.

Of the 329 TCPS Class of 2019 diploma graduates:

• 167 (51%) completed at least one Advanced Placement Course before graduating.
• 61 (19%) earned credit for at least one dual enrollment course at the community college level.
• 194 (50%) seniors fulfilled requirements for at least one Career and Technology Education program.
• The composite SAT score was 1059 for math and critical reading (above the national and state composite scores), while the ACT composite average was 22.
• The projected official graduation rate for TCPS high schools is 93.2%.
• TCPS graduates were awarded a total of $14,840,339 in scholarships.

The class of 2019 also included two National AP Scholars, Benjamin Rieck, St. Michaels High and Lucas Joshi, Easton High. To achieve National AP Scholar status, students must earn a score of 4 or higher on all Advanced Placement Exams taken and have completed at least 8 exams. Rieck is now attending University of Maryland College Park and Joshi attends Dartmouth College.

“I am extremely proud of the accomplishments of the class of 2019, and I am confident that they will do great things during the next chapter of their life,” said Dr. Kelly Griffith, TCPS Superintendent. “Our team of educators is committed to ensuring that our students develop the global competencies they will need on their journey to military service, the workforce, technical training or college. As we experience changes in the demographics of our community, we have expanded our focus to support the needs of all of our graduating students.”

The Easton High School Class of 2019 included 277 diploma recipients.
