The American Spiritual Ensemble is coming to Oxford! Thursday evening, October 26, 2023 at 7 p.m., The Church of the Holy Trinity will host The American Spiritual Ensemble in concert at 502 S. Morris Street, Oxford MD. Founded by Dr. Everett McCorvey in 1995, the Ensemble continues to keep the American Negro Spiritual alive through concerts, workshops, and musical projects.
Sixteen renowned opera singers from around the country will come through the front doors sharing a classic Spiritual, Walk Together Children. The sound is so powerful and full of energy it penetrates your entire body filling you with strength and hope. Throughout the concert, music of the American negro slaves, Spirituals, and Broadway will be shared through songs of comfort, love, and hope for a better time. Stories found in this rich, multiethnic repertoire are shared by the stars of today’s stage, whether it be Opera or Broadway. Joining the Ensemble will be Brandi Inez Sutton (Met and national opera stages/Jazz soprano soloist), Errin Duane Brooks (Grammy Award-winning tenor and one of the most highly sought after opera singers), Martin Hargrove (Specialist in oratorios, musical theater, opera), Angelo Johnson Jr. (founder of The Carter Legacy Singers), and John Wesley Wright (interpreter of Bach to Broadway).
All are welcome to attend. If you have never experienced The American Spiritual Ensemble in concert, you will be amazed and forever changed by the incredible music created in the beautiful setting of Holy Trinity.
