On November 3rd at 6:30 pm Peter K. Bailey will share a slide show and speak on his book, “Poplar Island – My Memories as a Boy”.

Bailey writes his true story of a young boy growing up on Poplar Island and going to school by boat.  The book includes an interesting history of this unique island, the first settlement in Talbot County, and also the home to President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s exclusive “Jefferson Island Club” in the 1930’s.  Also included is the story of the island’s incredible reconstruction, started in 1998, after the island had all but washed away.

On November 16th at 6:30 pm Chesapeake Bay Photographer, Jay P. Fleming will share a slide show of his Bay photography – many from Tilghman Island.

Fleming’s newly released book, “Working the Water” a visual narrative of the lives of those individuals whose livelihood is directly dependent upon the Chesapeake Bay will be available for purchase and signing.  Fleming will have his photography for sale.

Both events will be held at the Tilghman United Methodist Church.

Tilghman Watermen’s Museum, located at 6031 Tilghman Island Road, is open weekends April through November. For more information, contact Ann Polo, 609-805-3341, [email protected]
