Tred Avon Players Season Opens with “Proof”

The 2014 Tred Avon Players season opens with the Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winning “Proof” by David Auburn and directed by Ed Langrell. TAP partners with Hugh Gregory Gallagher Theatre to present this story of mathematics and madness. A young woman fears she has inherited her father’s psychosis along with his genius. Unexpected humor and family dynamics provide an entertaining and provoking evening.

She is the daughter of Robert, a brilliant mathematician, who misplaces both his brilliance and his sanity in his later years. Catherine, a budding mathematician herself, must give up her schooling and her most creatively productive years in order to take care of her father, who has become convinced that alien civilizations are communicating with him directly through the local library’s Dewey decimal system.

Please be advised: There are cases of adult language in this production.

The cast includes Nicole Millette as Catherine, Christine Kinlock as her sister Claire, John Norton is Robert and the role of Hal, a student of Robert, is portrayed by Mike Sousa. “Proof” is produced by Lisa Roth, with stage manager, Kim Wilson. Light design by Skipper Marquess and light operation apprentice is Sean Wilson. Sound design by Patrick Fee and sound operator is Tom Barwick. Set design and construction by John Swann & Jesse Capps with set decoration by Jesse Capps and props by Julie Barnett. Costumes by Barbara Mann and Lisa Roth, and Stage crew/dressers are Betty Barwick, Barbara Mann, Mary Wilson, and Julie Barnett.

“Proof” opens with the Thrifty Thursday Preview on February 13 at 7pm. Tickets are two for $15. Other performances are Fridays & Saturdays February 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and March 1 at 8pm. Sundays February 16, 23, and March 2 at 2pm. Tickets: $15 for adults, $5 for students
