There are many programs and events right around the corner in October at the Talbot County Free Library. Read on to learn what’s available for children, and addults too, at the Easton and St. Michaels branches of the library.

Children’s Programs

Easton

Discover Your World
Wednesdays, October 14 – November 4, & November 18, 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. Books, art, and science for children 3 and up accompanied by an adult.

Halloween Crafts
Tuesday, October 27, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. For children of all ages.

St. Michaels

Story Time
Wednesdays, October 7, 14, & 28, 10:30 a.m. For children 5 and under accompanied by an adult.

Family Fall Crafts (Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult.)
Monday, October 19, 3:30 p.m. Create a Pumpkin.

Family Unplugged Games
Saturday, October 17, 1:00 p.m. Board games and fun educational games for all ages. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Adult Programs

Easton

Stitching Time
Monday, Oct. 19, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Bring projects in progress (sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, what-have-you). Limited instruction for beginners.

Beginning Conversational English Class
Thursdays, October 1 – December 17, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. (Note: No class on Oct. 15.) A program to help adults new to the Eastern Shore become comfortable with the English language. This program is for adult beginners; no reading required; drop-ins welcome.

Reception & Celebration in Honor of the Talbot Library’s 90th Anniversary
Thursday, October 15, 4 – 6 p.m. Music by Bird Dog and the Road Kings, refreshments, inspiration and fun! This is the kick-off event in a yearlong series of programs.

Library Book Group to Discuss Flight Behavior
Monday, October 19, 6:30 p.m. The Easton library book group will discuss Barbara Kingsolver’s novel Flight Behavior.

NASA Aerospace Engineer to Present Hubble Space Telescope Program
Monday, October 19, 6:00 p.m. NASA’s Russell Werneth—famous for having successfully overseen all five EVA astronaut spacewalks to service the Hubble Space Telescope—will give a presentation (complete with stunning images) on NASA’s renowned Hubble mission.

The Divas ‘n the Details: Stories & Music of 7 Opera Stars
Thursday, October 29, 6:30 p.m. In celebration of National Opera Week, Susan Jones will introduce seven “sing-sational,” scintillating, spicy, seductive heroines from the world of opera. Jones’s program will include original verse and clarinet music! Meet and experience seven unforgettable opera characters in a totally new way.

St. Michaels

Library Book Group to Discuss: Whistling Season by Ivan Doig
