The YMCA of the Chesapeake (YMCA) celebrated its 60th year of service with members, staff and volunteers at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MD. Over 250 guests came together from all 6 branches of the YMCA including—Easton, St. Michaels, Caroline County, Salisbury, Pocomoke City, Chincoteague, VA, as well as members from the Queen Anne’s County community.
The crowd celebrated the YMCA’s achievements from the past year including–a successful $4,000,000 capital campaign to provide major renovations to the Richard A. Henson Family YMCA as well as the addition of team-building elements (Alpine Tower, Zip Line) to the Lower Shore Family YMCA camp facility. Guests in attendance had a chance to see first hand the positive impact the YMCA makes in the lives of 23,000 members across the Eastern Shore while having fun at the baseball themed event.
In 2013, the YMCA provided over $500,000 in financial assistance to over 5,000 individuals and families across the Eastern Shore to participate in YMCA programs. Elected officials were on hand to recognize the YMCA for its positive impact in communities across the Eastern Shore and presented Resolutions from the Maryland State Senate and the House of Delegates.
