The Church of the Holy Trinity, Oxford, is very honored to host Yury Shadrin in concert Sunday afternoon November 3, 2024 at 4 p.m. This concert will be held in the Parish Hall, 502 S. Morris St., Oxford MD. Captivating, passionate, intimate, spell binding moments from the works of Beethoven, Brahms, and Mussorgsky – what a wonderful way to enjoy an afternoon of virtuosic music!
Mr. Shadrin will open the concert with a very sensitive piece, Rondo in C Major Op. 51 No. 1, showing the elegant side of Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert continues with Seven Fantasy Pieces, Op. 116 by Johannes Brahms. These Capriccios and Intermezzi share the reflective side of Brahms with music that touches your heart through moments of intimacy, passion, glimmers of hope and everything that brings you joy. Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky completes the hour-long concert. The variations on a Promenade theme take us on an imaginary tour of an art collection, which was the composer’s inspiration for this composition. Often we hear Pictures at an Exhibition performed by an orchestra. However, the piano version is considered to be a show piece for virtuoso pianists.
Yury Shadrin is an internationally acclaimed soloist and recitalist, having appeared in major venues across four continents including the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. In recent seasons he has performed in concerts at Boulez Saal, Russia’s Mariinsky Theatre, China’s Central Conservatory of Music, and Nanning EXPO Center, The Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory. Mr. Shadrin gained international recognition as a first-prize winner of the Rome International Piano Competition and Grand Prize winner at the Siberian Piano Competition. In addition to his performance career, Mr. Shadrin is a celebrated educator and serves as the Artistic Director of the Leon Fleisher Academy.
Please welcome this very personable, incredibly talented pianist to Talbot County. This concert is being performed prior to an upcoming European Tour and Teaching Residencies.
