Bethany Ziegler of Easton, Md. has joined the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in a new position as content creator and strategist.
Ziegler will be working with the communications and marketing department to help build CBMM’s profile and mission work, leading in the development, planning, and execution of CBMM’s content.
“As the museum for the entire Chesapeake Bay region, CBMM has a great deal of important and relevant stories to share about the Bay’s people, history, and traditions,” said CBMM President Kristen Greenaway. “Bethany’s work will help expand the reach of CBMM’s mission by developing rich content in stories, videos, photographs, and more. We’re very glad to have her on board, to fulfill this important expanded role.”
A former journalist, Ziegler worked most recently as the Community Editor of The Star Democrat in Easton, Md. Her related experience includes writing for the Advocate of Carroll County and for two Patch.com online news platforms. In 2014 and 2015, Bethany received two Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association awards for her work, with the awards honoring excellence in journalism for print and online work, and in 2014, first place in the feature story profile category.
Ziegler earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies from Lynchburg College, where she also served as Editor-in-Chief of the school’s weekly newspaper. Her volunteer experience includes work with the Carroll County 4-H program.
Originally from New Windsor, Md., Ziegler has always lived around the Chesapeake Bay, but strengthened that connection when she moved to Maryland’s Eastern Shore almost four years ago.
Established in 1965, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is a world-class maritime museum dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment and people of the entire Chesapeake Bay, with the values of relevancy, authenticity, and stewardship guiding its mission. Serving nearly 70,000 guests each year, CBMM’s campus includes a floating fleet of historic boats and 12 exhibition buildings, situated on 18 waterfront acres along the Miles River and St. Michaels’ harbor.
