Annapolis-based figurative artist, Rick Casali, will be teaching a unique 3-day sculpture workshop beginning Friday, February 13th at Nancy Tankersley’s Easton Studio.
A key figure in the Mid Atlantic art community, Casali is an expert in human construction and anatomy. He has designed this innovative workshop to address the value of working in 3-dimensions in order for artists to improve their painting. Easton Studio founder and professional artist Nancy Tankersley says, “It was many years spent painting before I realized that the ability to visualize in 3 dimensions is an important tool for painters and an area which is often neglected in their education. I feel fortunate to be able to offer this opportunity to learn a skill from a teacher as talented and innovative as Rick. It is sure to have a positive influence on improving one’s paintings – especially portraiture.”
Casali is a member of the Portrait Society of America and serves as the vice president to the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters. He is a member of The Portrait Society of America and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the Society’s 2012 International Competition for his portrait bust “Gabrielle”. In 2013, his bronze figure, “Spring”, was selected as a finalist for the National Sculpture Society’s 80th Annual Awards Exhibition in Tampa, Florida.
