Comptroller Peter Franchot will address members of the Easton Rotary Club during a meeting at the Easton Club Pavilion discussing the current state of Maryland’s economy and the effects of the federal government shutdown. Following the event, the Comptroller will visit Councell Farms in Cordova to present a proclamation to the Councell family for their commitment to educating the public on the importance of agriculture in our region. The Councell family began farming in Talbot County around 1690. Chip and Jason Councell are the tenth and eleventh generation respectively of Councell farmers. Many children throughout the region visit the farm and its well-known pumpkin patch each fall.
