The Easton Little League is pleased to announce that Easton will host the 2015 Maryland State All-Star Little League baseball tournament this summer. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 25 at North Easton Park.
“We are thrilled for this opportunity to host this prestigious tournament, showcase the most impressive athletic complex in the region, and to provide our guests with a sense of what makes Easton such a special place to live and visit,” said Len Foxwell, President of Easton Little League.
In all, seven District championship teams from throughout Maryland will participate in this tournament. The winner will go on to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament, held in Bristol, Connecticut, and a chance to advance to the 2015 Little League World Series.
“This is a perfect chance to show the rest of the state what a gem we have here in Easton, both in terms of talent, community support and a quality ballpark experience,” said Easton Mayor Robert Willey. “We are also excited by the boost that this tournament will bring to our local hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions and other small businesses.”
A task force of local volunteers is being formed to work on logistics of coordinating the tournament, and interested residents are encouraged to volunteer their time in support of this effort.
“Talbot County is a wonderful place to visit, and we are honored that for several days this summer, it will also serve as the unofficial baseball capital of Maryland,” said Corey Pack, Talbot County Council President. “Even as players and families enjoy an exciting tournament at North Easton Park, we also hope they will venture out and experience just a few of the attractions that has made our county one of the most attractive tourist destinations on the eastern seaboard.”
