On June 3, Troika Gallery in downtown Easton opens “Local Fare During Plein Air: Delicious Art for the Discerning ‘Palette.’” This show features an exciting collection of paintings celebrating plein air subjects with a local flair. From blue crabs and watermen to marine scenes and Eastern Shore landscapes, these paintings convey a sense of place and depict the unique aspects of the Land of Pleasant Living. Paintings were created by 20 of the renowned artists represented in the region by Troika Gallery. Selected artists are Kenn Backhaus, John Ebersberger, Deborah Elville, Laura Era, Kevin Fitzgerald, David B. Good, Andrew Schuler Guerin, John Davis Held, Mark Hiles, Ken Lehman, Lynne Lockhart, Kirk McBride, Lou Messa, Raoul Middleman, Terry Miller, William Storck, Paula Waterman, Jennifer Heyd Wharton, Vladislav Yeliseyev, and Chris Wilke. There will be an opening reception on June 3 from 5-8pm during downtown Easton’s First Friday Gallery Walk. This show corresponds with Plein Air Easton, which takes place July 9-17. A Plein Air Easton reception will be held July 8, 2016. The show runs through August 2.
Troika Gallery will further accentuate the plein air art from by hosting two demonstrations during Plein Air Easton. On July 15 from 1-3 p.m., sculptor David Turner will conduct a wildlife sculpture demo and discussion, “From Clay to Bronze.” On July 16 from 1-2 p.m., Paula Waterman will present “Three Ways to See Our Local Birds,” a demo in scratchboard.
In operation for over 19 years, Troika Gallery is the longest operating gallery on the Eastern Shore. The gallery has been selected four times as the “Best Art Gallery on the Eastern Shore” by What’s Up? Eastern Shore magazine.
