Downtown Easton continues the celebration this week with the first First Friday Gallery Walk; the weather promises to be a balmy 50 degrees during the day, and not drop much below 40 in the evening, so no excuses ! It’s too early for ‘cabin fever’ to set in.
In addition to the exhibitions in galleries, restaurants and shops, (have you seen Joe Karlik’s work in Mimi’s Closet ?), the Academy Art Museum is hosting a Gallery Walk Open House, featuring demonstrations by Museum fine art instructors of adult classes in oil and acrylic painting, pastels and drawing and design. The Eastern Shore Division of the Ballet Theatre of Maryland will offer dance activities and performances. Class registration is available for pre-ballet, pre-tap, classical ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance classes.
If you’re a fan of stand up comedy we recommend checking out Mickey Cucchiella at the NightCat on Saturday. You may have heard him on the radio – he’s a dj for 98 rock, but his other gig is as a comedian – the sometimes angry, stream of consciousness delivery, superimposed over his Catholic schoolboy persona, is winning over every audience he faces.
Friday, January 6 – 5 to 7 pm: Academy Art Museum Gallery Walk Open House Art instructor demonstrations, dance activities, live music and refreshments. Free and open to the public. 106 South St., Easton MD 21601
Saturday, January 7 – 8 pm: Mickey Cucchiella at the NightCat Start the New Year out laughing ! Mickey’s unique style is hard to pinpoint, although some have said he’s an interesting cross between Sam Kinison, Dennis Leary, and Billy Idol. Tickets $20
5 Goldsborough St., Easton, MD 21601
