Queen Anne’s County real estate executive John Wilson humorously refers to himself as the token evil land developer on the Wye Island Revisited panel last month, but in reality Mr. Wilson is part of a growing number of conservation-oriented businessmen equally dedicated to environmental sustainability as well as sophisticated retail and residential planning. Beginning in 1969 with a retail project in Columbia, Maryland, and now owner of the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club and the historic Tidewater Inn, John shares his unique perspective on “Smart Growth” and its challenges with Wye Island and other projects.
