The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Talbot County encourages cancer survivors and their caregivers to attend a celebration of life and hope on Saturday, September 13, 2014. The 19th Annual American Cancer Society Survivors’ Celebration Reception will take place at Easton High School and will kick off the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Talbot County. The event commemorates the lives of hundreds of Talbot County residents who have survived cancer, while offering the hope of finding a cure. The Upper Eastern Shore Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society in collaboration with the Easton High School Culinary Department, led by Mrs. Linda Brown, will offer a complimentary meal to each cancer survivor and his or her guest.
Survivors in attendance will also receive a complimentary luminaria to place around the track in honor or memory of themselves, a loved one or friend. Survivors will be treated to entertainment by harpist Betty Boda. “The Cancer Survivors’ Reception is a great opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate life and hope while honoring the personal journey of cancer survivors,” said Robin Marshall, Event Chairperson. “Every survivor is invited whether they were diagnosed today, yesterday, or 10 years ago.”
Relay For Life is a community event bringing together teams of families, friends, churches, neighborhoods, and businesses – all with the same goal of curing cancer.
