The Easton Choral Arts Society, inaugurating its 37th season, will pay tribute to the era of swing with a concert entitled, “IN THE MOOD: Sounds of the Big Band Era.” The concert, under the artistic direction of Maestro Wes Lockfaw, will take place at the St. Michael’s High School Auditorium on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 26 at 4:00 p.m.
Swing was a distinctive music style which brightened the nation during the Great Depression and helped lift morale at home and abroad during the Second World War. It has experienced a heightened interest in recent years making this an event not to miss! Join the singers and 18 piece big band and special guest artist, Mezzo-soprano Patrizia Conte, as they revisit hits including Glenn Miller’s Moonlight Serenade, In the Mood, Chattanooga Choo-Choo, Tuxedo Junction, Ain’t Misbehavin, and even a visit from modern day Andrews sisters in Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. The concert will include many more of your favorite tunes and is sure to add a skip to your step!
Mezzo-soprano Patrizia Conte has come to international attention for her vocal beauty, superb musicianship and powerful characterizations. “A beautiful and powerful dramatic voice and a superb actress.”
Please make note of concert times as they have changed slightly from previous years. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $5 for students and are available at www.eastonchoralarts.org, by phone 410-200-0498, and from chorus members.
Easton Choral Arts Society is funded in part by the Talbot County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council.
