Newly elected Council member Chuck Callahan might have had the best line at the December 9 meeting of the Talbot County Council by noting, “there is a new sheriff in town,” when referring to newly elected Talbot County Sheriff Joe Gamble.
The Talbot County Council welcomed Sheriff Gamble and several others with new colleagues Callahan and Jennifer Williams.
The meeting also included a serious discussion on the county’s efforts to curtail teen drinking. Talbot County’s part-time liquor inspector Kenley Timms reported to the Council on the current local enforcement efforts to prohibit liquor sales to minors and some of the challenges that remain.
