Families and caregivers of individuals on the Autistic Spectrum or with other disabilities are welcome to come share the expertise of education professionals at a special conference in Salisbury. Benedictine, along with Pathfinders for Autism, The Parents Place of Maryland, The Kinera Foundation, The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger, Family Support Services for Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester County Public Schools, The Worcester County Autism Support Group and Kennedy Krieger Institute is co-sponsoring a free full-day Autism Spectrum Disorders Conference on October 24th focusing on Behavior, Social and Wellness issues. Leading experts in the field will present a number of workshops ranging from Executive Function and Autism, Sexuality and Relationships, the Importance of Self-Care and Stress Management for Parents and Caregivers and more. Benedictine provides special education, vocational training, supported employment and housing for children and adults with severe developmental disabilities including autism. In addition to their main campus, Benedictine operates group homes in Talbot, Caroline and Anne Arundel County. One of Benedictine’s objectives and greatest strengths is community integration – creating opportunities and supporting individuals as they move out into the world while raising community awareness of the tremendous character and abilities of people with disabilities.
