Plaindealing Creek is across the Tred Avon River from Oxford. The first Plaindealing home was built 1697-1773 by Samuel Chamberlaine. This second home was owned by General E. L. Hardcastle in the mid nineteenth century. This photo of Plaindealing was taken c. 1890-1909 and sadly nothing remains of this home. Facts: “Where Land and Water Intertwine” by Christopher Weeks.
