AAM Turns Recording Studio: Kentavius Jones on the PDA Project

December 15, 2016 by Dave Wheelan

It certainly the case with most art museums of any significance that the demographic that makes up their board of directors is a very rarefied group. Some are artists, some are collectors, and others are long-term art lovers, but rarely do they have anyone under the age of 40.

So when the Academy Art Museum appointed Kentavius Jones to its board a few months ago, it was a sure indication that the museum was eager to attract a new generation to its art exhibitions and art education programs. Jones, an accomplished musician and local advocate for the arts on the Mid-Shore, was a natural selection.

This also had an impact on Kentavius. He also found himself thinking hard on how to bring his peers, and even younger people, to downtown Easton and the Academy.

This weekend the community will see his first attempts to reach a new audience through the four-day recording session he and his musical colleagues using the Academy’s dance studio to produce an album for future production. Through an IndieGoGo campaign as well.

The Spy caught up with Kentavius at the Academy earlier this morning to get a short overview of this exciting new art project.

This video is approximately two minutes in length. PDA will be in operation from December 17 – December 20. Dec 17 at 10 AM to Dec 20 at 4 PM. For more information about Academy Art Museum’s PDA project, please go ” target=”_blank”>here.

Letters to Editor

  1. Dr. Lois McCoy says

    December 19, 2016 at 9:42 PM

    Dear Editor:
I absolutely love this young man. From the first time I laid eyes on him, I knew that he was a gift from God. This young man is a music genius! My prayer is that everyone gets to hear and experience his gift. It would be a travesty if this soulful, melodious voice is not fully discovered and appreciated. Kentavius’s heart and soul “beats” music! Please go out and support his dream: “Buy his album!” Also, I am so excited about his new appointment to the Academy Art Museum. The Academy has made a fantastic choice. The PDA project is only the beginning of the many wonderful ideas and projects that Kentavius will collaborate and share with the Board. God has placed a “hedge of protection” around him that can’t be broken. Keep praying and working hard to reach your dream.
