Brookletts Place – Talbot Senior Center announces the success of their Summer of Love event. The event was held on August 4th from 7:30pm to 10:30pm at the Easton Elks Lodge (#1622) in Easton, Md.
Almost 75 people registered for and attended this high-energy event. Notable attendees included State Senator Adelaide (Addie) Eckardt and Delegate John (Johnny) Mautz IV. At the end of the evening,State Senator Eckardt presented Childlene Brooks, manager of Brookletts Place – Talbot Senior Center, with a resolution from the Senate of Maryland congratulating the Center on the fundraiser event. At the event, attendees enjoyed dancing to the music stylings of DJ Steve Moody, eating “groovy” foods, and bidding on silent auction items.
This event was made possible by local sponsors (listed in the order of amount of sponsorship) including Michael & Nancy Klein Foundation; The Henker Group; Dock Street Foundation; Bay Imprint; Flowers for the Tables; Talbot County Health Department; What’s Up? Eastern Shore; Cecil H. Gannon and Sons, Inc.; and Shore United Bank. In addition to these sponsors, four local donors provided generous donations.
Center Manager Childlene Brooks remarked, “Brookletts Place – Talbot Senior Center’s fundraising committee is thrilled with the success of the Summer of Love event. Everyone in attendance had a fantastic time and I cannot thank our sponsors, donors, staff members, volunteers, and Easton Elks Lodge enough for making this event possible.”
The profits raised from this event will go towards Brookletts Place’s Fundraising Campaign that is currently underway to raise money for needed programs and services at the Center as well as developing a satellite senior center in St. Michaels.
