The Rails to Trails in Easton continues to grow! The Public Works crews for the Town of Easton recently completed the extension of the Rails to Trails along Wayside Avenue. “This project is a collaborative effort between our Engineering and Public Works departments resulting in a great attribute designed to be enjoyed by anyone in our community,” said Town of Easton Mayor Bob Willey.
The current length of the Rails to Trails is 2.88 miles consisting of wide, smooth paving with visible crosswalks at each intersection. This project will be followed by an extension on the other end of the Rails to Trails, which will connect the trail to the new bridge over the North Fork of the Tred Avon River. In total, the estimated length of the Rails to Trails throughout Easton will be 5.5 miles.
The ‘rails to trails’ movement is supported by hundreds of trail enthusiasts who enjoy the amenity for recreation, fitness and nature. There are over 21,000 miles of ‘rails to trails’ across the United States.
