The East End Gallery presents a new show for November, featuring artists Luisa Adelfio and Joan Machinchick.
Luisa Adelfio’s most recent collection of work is a marriage of architecture, literature, drawing and sculpture. “I like to read and I find inspiration in a variety of texts. My works reference novelists, philosophers, and artists that have lived before us and remind us not only of our connection to them, but of our own potential in our version of the present.” Ms. Adelfio’s work has been exhibited and remains part of private collections in South America, Italy, Boston, San Francisco, and New York.
Along side Ms. Adelfio’s sculptures you will also see the work of Joan Machinchick. Ms. Machinchick draws her inspiration for her handmade books from nature, words and many of her life’s experiences. She has made well over 100 books and editions, in all sizes from miniatures to 11” x 15”. Not only does the viewer experience the beautiful craftsmanship of the covers but is taken along a journey from what is on the inside. Her artist’s books have been exhibited in many solo, shared and juried exhibits in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington area as well as in Arizona.
