Linda Wilson, REALTOR with Long and Foster took top honors as the Volunteer Mediator of the Year from the Mid-Shore Community Mediation Center.
This award is given to the person who shows dedication in helping others resolve problems and commitment to the Mid-Shore Community Mediation Center. In the first three years, Wilson has completed 68 mediations.
Wilson laughs as she remembers how she got involved, it all started when I saw an ad in The Talbot Spy and thought it said would you like to learn how to meditate? I answered the ad, and as I heard what the Mid-Shore Community Mediation Center was really about, I thought this sounds interesting.
Over several weekends, Wilson went to school and obtained the required training. She has also completed the Parenting Planning certification. Wilson specializes in Parenting Planning mediation. This certification allows her to mediate in courthouses to help families come to their own mutually agreed upon resolution that benefits both the families and the children involved. Wilson notes, the families drive the discussion, I help support them during the process.
Training in mediation, has also helped her real estate career. Learning to really listen to what your client’s needs are and developing the skills to navigate the negotiation process is invaluable. This level of training elevates me
professionally and allows me to notice the emotions and values during what for many home buyers and sellers is a stressful process, said Wilson. Linda can be reached at [email protected].
