Christ Church, St. Michael’s Parish kicked off its summer worship season with a visit from The Right Reverend Santosh Marray, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Easton, on Sunday, May 28. This was the also the first service to be held outdoors at the Memorial Garden Chapel, recently constructed on the church campus.
“We were grateful to have Bishop Marray worship with us in our new outdoor space,” said the Rev. Steve Mosher, Rector of Christ Church, St. Michael’s Parish. “What a wonderful way to celebrate Pentecost and begin the unofficial start of the summer season.”
The Memorial Garden Chapel was dedicated in October 2022, and this was the first opportunity for a community-wide church service.
“When we first envisioned an outdoor chapel, we saw it as a gathering place for our own congregation but even more to serve as an extension of Christ Church into the broader St. Michaels community,” says Senior Warden Rebecca Daniel. “We imagined it as a place for worship, communion, and fellowship. It’s a place for conversation or meditation, or just a welcome respite for passersby, a place where all feel welcome.”
