The Academy Art Museum is offering a variety of classes in October, including classes in painting, drawing, and digital photography.
Instructor Patrick Meehan is teaching several classes including “Drawing: Fundamentals of the Head” from October 21 to November 25, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; “Clothed Figure Drawing” on October 21 to November 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; “Painting the Head” on October 30 to December 18 (no class on November 13 and 27) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and “Landscape Painting” on October 30 to December 18 (no class on November 13 and 27) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Veteran instructor Katie Cassidy is teaching “Basic Drawing: Perspective and Composition” on October 7 through November 11, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon; “Pastel: Underpainting Techniques” on October 8 through October 29, from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Instructor Rita Curtis is teaching: “Still Life Part 2: Make Your Still Life Sing through Color, Harmony, and Rock Solid Composition” on October 22 through November 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and “Paint Your Grandma: Learn to Paint Faces” on October 22 through November 12 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
George Holzer is offering two digital photography classes: “Digital Photography – Shooting and Composition” on October 29 through December 10 (no class November 26), from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., as well as private lessons in photography and Photoshop.
Instructor Diane DuBois Mullaly is teaching “Saturdays en Plein Air!” on the last Saturday of each month between May and October, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The class is free to members of the Museum.
For children, instructor Garnette Hines is offering “Beginning/Intermediate Photoshop” for children in grades 5 to 8 on October 29 through December 3 (no class on November 26), from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Museum staff is teaching a “Holiday Halloween Craft” class for children ages 6 to 12 years of age on Saturday, October 25 from 1 to 3 p.m.
