The Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, is offering school groups and other community groups on the Mid Shore the opportunity to view a Museum exhibition and then work on a related art or language arts project through its ArtREACH
Pictured is Ty Scott of Federalsburg Elementary School, a participant in the Academy Art Museum’s ArtREACH Program. The Museum is currently scheduling schools groups for fall 2011 and spring 2012.
The Academy Art Museum next exhibition, “Andre Kertész: On Reading,” is scheduled for November 19, 2011 through January 15, 2012. The exhibition is a series of photographs made by legendary Hungarian photographer André Kertész (1894–1985) over a 50-year period in Hungary, France and the United States. The exhibition illustrates Kertész’s penchant for the poetry and choreography of life in public and also private moments at home, examining the power of reading as a universal pleasure. These glimpses of everyday people and places changed the course of photographic art. ArtREACH projects linked to this show will focus on book-making and writing.
The ArtREACH program is free and the Museum pays for transportation and all material costs for students of Talbot, Caroline, Queen Anne‘s and Dorchester counties. The program is funded through the generous support of Concordia Foundation, Bank of America and Target.
