Do you feel the joy of living and vacationing on the Chesapeake Bay? And love all that’s fun and colorful? September at The Green Phoenix gallery brings you fun, joyful color, with a wide array of whimsical Chesapeake Bay themed creations by artist Ann Farley.
“I cut colorful papers by hand to create scenes and images of my favorite places and times on the Eastern Shore. I love bright colors, fun shapes, crisp lines, and whimsical details.”
After creating a large colorful bicycle for the “Celebrate St. Michaels” banner program, Ann continued adding to her “By the Bay” series with a log canoe, a screwpile lighthouse, and a crab. Once the original artwork sold, these four images have proved popular on coasters, greeting cards, and small prints. Gallery owner Andi Tassencourt encouraged Ann to also have glass cutting boards made which are imprinted with these images. Useful as bar boards or cheese boards, they have been snapped up by locals and visitors alike looking for just the right wedding or house-warming gift.
Tassencourt invites the public to The Green Phoenix on First Friday, September 6, from 5 to 8 pm, to meet Farley and see her work. Ann has created a new series of “By the Beach” originals which will be unveiled that evening for the first time. Enjoy some wine, yummy finger foods, good company and conversation while viewing these new artworks. Says Tassencourt, “The inspiring qualities of Ann’s creations are a wonderful complement to the international flavor of hand crafted works by our Fair Trade artisans, in combination with our eclectic mix of fine, artisanal crafts by local artists, and oil paintings by Diane DuBois Mullaly. All come together to offer an environment with a full range of creative arts for the community to enjoy!”
And FRIVOLOUS FIBERS Yarn Boutique, located inside The Green Phoenix Gallery, adds even more interest, featuring a new collection of its own line of gorgeous, hand-spun, and hand-dyed yarns.
The Green Phoenix Gallery is located at 31 N Harrison St, Easton. 410-822-7554. Open Monday – Saturday 10 am – 5pm, closed Sunday. www.facebook.com/greenphoenixgallery
