“Art on the Bay’’, a joint program of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and the St. Michaels Art League, has added new interest to the already active museum campus in St. Michaels.
While shipwrights restore historic wooden boats and the Maryland Dove replica takes shape in the boat yard, several SMAL artists paint plein air each Saturday. The artists enjoy chatting with visitors and explaining their visions as they come to life on the canvas.
The July artists include watercolorists Judy Weaver and Lea Sloan, and oil painters Carol McClees and George Hamilton. Original art is for sale at the artists easels as well as in the CBMM gift shop. The Art on the Bay program will continue through October with different artists painting each month.

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Talbot County Arts Council with funds provided by the Maryland State Arts Council.
