Local artists once again are donating time and talents to introduce Talbot Mentors students to new experiences in art. The organization’s Partners In Art program matches artists with students to create works of art in a variety of media. The children’s mentors participate by providing transportation and encouragement.
The artwork will be displayed at a reception for the artists, students and mentors on Saturday, April 5, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., at the law offices of Hollis, Cronan & Fronk on Dover Street in Easton. The event is open to the public. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served, with a brief presentation at 4:30.
This is the sixth year for the Partners In Art program, which is sponsored by the Talbot County Arts Council, with funds from the Talbot County Council.
Artists participating this year are Deborah Colborn, John and Maryetta Dynan, Terri Griffin, Eileen Herbert, Margot Miller, Ted Mueller, Peg Papa, Tom Ryan, Jacquie Pfaff-Pratt, Shirley Sallet, Sue Stockman, Jen Wagner, Heidi Wetzel and Paul Winters. A number of the artists also have participated in previous years, enjoying the opportunity to continue sharing their talents with new mentees.
Talbot Mentors Program Coordinator Jessika Best expressed her appreciation to everyone who makes Partners In Art possible for the students. “It is more than simply the artists and mentors who work with the children, and the Arts Council’s financial support,” she said. “It’s also important that we are able to give these students an opportunity to show off their work to the public.”
She thanked Gordon Fronk and his firm for making that possible by hosting the reception, and Dock Street Foundation for its loan of gallery-quality display panels and lighting for the showing.
“This has been a popular program for Talbot Mentors,” added Best. “We are grateful to all in the community who come together to provide our students with these unique experiences.”
