Miles River ShoreHawks Registering Students for Travel Football, Cheerleading

April 4, 2014 by Miles River Shore Hawks

The Miles River ShoreHawks are taking football and cheerleading to the next level! The organization, only a year old, is joining American Youth Football, Inc. to bring players and cheerleaders the opportunity to travel to compete with other Maryland teams, to play football as it is played in high school and college, and to get a chance to play at an “All Star” level in football and cheer!

American Youth Football, Inc., established in 1996, is an international youth football organization established to promote the wholesome development of youth through their association with adult leaders in the sport of American football. Rules and regulations are established to ensure that players play in an atmosphere of safety with a competitive balance between teams.

AYF is the largest youth football and cheer organization in the world, and one of the largest membership organizations dedicated to teaching youth through positive role models. Emphasis is on learning, playing, and enjoying the sport while instilling high moral standards by stressing the importance of academic achievement and community involvement. Helping kids become leaders and teammates, AYF players and cheerleaders will learn to both foster confidence and a sense of self-worth that extend beyond the gridiron and into the school, family and community. Sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, responsibility and self-discipline are among the traits needed by youngsters to face the future with positive aspirations and confidence.

AYF and the ShoreHawks believe that ALL kids deserve equal opportunities, special attention and respect. Any student in Talbot County – no matter where they live – who wants to play football or participate in cheerleading is eligible to join the ShoreHawks. Players from ages 5 – 15 are welcome and no prior experience is required!

Registration will be held on April 5th, 9-12 a.m. at Easton Middle School in the cafeteria. Online registration is also available on the website shore-hawks.com.
