Key Club Begins a New Year of Service

The Saints Peter and Paul Key Club is proud to induct its newest members who are committed to the Kiwanis Club and Saints Peter and Paul mission of being of service to others. Key Club is an international, student-led organization providing members opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership. Chartered in 2000, the Saints Peter and Paul High School Key Club is the largest student organization at the school with over fifty members. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Bridgeville, Delaware and led by its student Executive Board, the Key Club participates in Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, St. Vincent de Paul Society, UNICEF, Special Olympics, among other service activities for the local community.

Chapter President Laura Dennison ‘17 shared her belief in the role of the Saints Peter and Paul Key Club. “I hope that our Key Clubbers become even more involved in their local community by finding service projects in which they are most passionate about. Through our advocacy of and service to worthy causes, each member of Key Club strives to be Christ for others.”

Hickey Heading to Boston University

The Saints Peter and Paul Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Senior Megan Hickey has signed her letter of intent to play lacrosse for Coach Liz Robertshaw’s Boston University Terriers next year. Boston University is a Division I program that competes in the prestigious Patriot League.

At Saints Peter and Paul, Megan has been a three-year Varsity Lacrosse starter, team captain, and was named All ESIAC Conference Co-Player of the Year last year. A member of the Eastern Shore National Lacrosse team, Megan has also been recognized as First Team All Mid-Shore during her sophomore and junior years.

In addition her excellence on the lacrosse field, Megan is member of the Saints Peter and Paul High School National Honor Society, Key Club, Needlecraft Club, a four-year starter in Varsity Women’s Soccer and Basketball, and an active volunteer with Talbot Hospice, Special Olympics, and Diabetes awareness programs.

As she prepares for the next chapter of her life, Megan reflected that, “Saints Peter and Paul as been an essential part of my life since preschool, always challenging me to be the very best – in the classroom, as an athlete, and as a leader in my school and community. I am well prepared for the challenges of Boston University and I am extremely excited to become part of the Terrier community. Looking forward to making new friends, attending campus events, playing lacrosse at the highest level, and getting to know the city of Boston.”

According to Director of Athletics Tyler Larkin, “Megan is the epitome of the Sabre student-athlete. She is a real leader on the field and in the classroom. I’m are excited to see Megan join the rich tradition of student- athletes from Saints Peter and Paul to make it to the highest level of their sport.”

Megan will be majoring in Pre-Med at Boston University with the goal of getting her doctorate in physical therapy.

Dombek Named New Director of Guidance & School Counseling

st peter paulSaints Peter and Paul High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Dombek as its new Director of Guidance & College Counseling. Rachel brings experience in both school and private practice counseling, most recently working as a family and child behavioral consultant with Ocean Front Counseling in Annapolis. Rachel has also worked as a school counselor in the Bellefonte Area and Mifflin County school districts in Pennsylvania.

With a B.S. in Counseling Psychology from Mansfield University, and a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Penn State, Rachel is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) as well as a certified school counselor in both Maryland and Pennsylvania. Rachel brings a diverse skill set to the position, including guidance curriculum, large/small group facilitation, individualized goal-setting and planning, academic and career advisement, adolescent and family mental health support, and student scheduling and placement.

At Saints Peter and Paul High School, Rachel will oversee a Guidance Office that will focus on the delivery of a comprehensive counseling program that will include academic planning, the college search and preparation process, as well as counseling and education related to students’ overall well-being.

On the opportunity to come to Saints Peter and Paul, Ms. Dombek stated, “I am excited and honored to join Saints Peter and Paul High School as the new Director of Guidance & College Counseling. I am delighted to be a part of such a well-respected and dynamic learning community where I will have the opportunity to help inspire our future Sabre leaders. I look forward to meeting and working with all of our students and parents!”

Principal Jim Nemeth commented, “We are excited to have Rachel join the Saints Peter and Paul family. As we continue to position our Guidance Office to most effectively meet the needs of our students and families, Rachel’s expertise, energy and work ethic will be an outstanding addition to the Sabre community.”

Habitat for Humanity ReStore Donation Drive at SSPP Elementary School this Saturday, March 29

Mrs. Galanek’s Saints Peter and Paul middle school mentoring group in Easton, Maryland, is organizing a Habitat for Humanity Choptank ReStore Donation Drive at SSPP Elementary School this Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

As you begin your spring cleaning and remodeling projects, please consider bringing your unwanted and/or excess furnishing, household items, and building materials to SSPP Elementary School on Choptank Avenue (off High Street). The Habitat truck will be on-site , and group members will assist with unloading your donations. All donations are tax deductible; receipts will be provided at the drop-off.

Mark your calendar for the 21st Sabre Celebration, March 1, 2014 at the Talbot Country Club benefiting the students of Sts. Peter and Paul Elementary and High Schools.

This event is known for its festive atmosphere, outstanding food and fabulous array of items to bid on in both silent and live auctions. Not to mention this year’s expanded wine wall and the ever-popular car raffle. There is something for everyone!

Your attendance and participation will provide necessary supplies, facility and technology enhancements, expanded physical education and religion programs as well as staff development, just to name a few. It is certain to be an evening you won’t want to miss!
