Finally! The Cinema By Starlight outdoor movie series—only a brief run this summer, need more Easton businesses to support this fine, free, family event- begins Friday with “Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl. “Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a flick under the stars. If you’re not much of a Johnny Depp pirate fan, the Roadhouse Players are performing “The Complete History of America (Abridged)” at the Historical Society Auditorium in Easton. Billed as a “ninety minute rollercoaster ride through the glorious quagmire that is American history,” this is sure to be hilarious.
Country music fans should not miss the 31st Annual Texaco Country Showdown local competition round, Saturday at the Avalon. Eight bands will each perform 2 songs in hopes of advancing to the next level. Past local, state, and regional winners include: Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus. Following the competition, Boston indie rockers Mission Hill will perform.
Sunday is Waterman’s Appreciation Day at the Maritime Museum in St Michaels. Coming back to this year’s event is reality TV star Edgar Hansen, from the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch.” Crabs, Bird Dog and the Roadkings, boat docking contests, Hansen – what’s not to like?
