July 30, 2025 by Talbot County Free Library

Share

The Talbot County Free Library will welcome international bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand for an exclusive evening event celebrating her newest book, The Academy, co-written with her daughter, Shelby Cunningham. The event will be held at The Oaks Waterfront Hotel (25876 Royal Oak Rd, Royal Oak, MD) as part of the Library’s Centennial Celebration, a year-long series of special events marking 100 years of community service.

Guests will enjoy an upscale literary experience complete with a signed copy of The Academy, her latest novel set for release in September, as well as a complimentary glass of wine and gourmet hors d’oeuvres. Elin will discuss her latest work, followed by a book signing and photo opportunity. In keeping with Elin’s signature event tradition, the color theme for this event is aqua, and guests are encouraged to wear this themed color for the evening.

Tickets are priced at $100 per person and will be available starting July 31 at tcfl.org. Space is limited and early reservations are encouraged.

The event also features a cash bar and local vendors, including The Smokey Cat Lavender Farm, Wrabyn Boutique and Browseabout Books, who will be selling additional copies of The Academy and other books by Elin.

Elin Hilderbrand is the bestselling author of more than 30 novels. Known as the “Queen of Beach Reads,” her work captures the charm of coastal life—making Maryland’s Eastern Shore a perfect setting to welcome her. Her hit novel The Perfect Couple was recently adapted into a Netflix series starring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Elle Fanning.

As an added convenience, The Oaks Waterfront Hotel will offer discounted room rates for event attendees. For booking, visit www.the-oaks.com or call 410-745-5053. Valet parking will also be available for all guests.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Elin’s coastal fiction or simply seeking a memorable evening by the water, this special event promises literary charm, scenic ambiance, and unforgettable moments.
