For the second year in a row, Bistro St. Michaels Executive Chef Matt Robbins has been named the first place winner in the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s oyster stew competition, held annually during OysterFest.
Bistro St. Michaels earns bragging rights and a plaque recognizing the People’s Choice award. The award-winning stew is featured on Bistro’s menu for dining guests in St. Michaels, Md.
This year’s oyster stew competition was generously sponsored by Easton Eye Care and Hair O’the Dog Wine & Spirits of Easton, Md.
Six restaurants competed, with 500 festival-goers taking part in blind taste tests before voting by ballot for their favorite stew. Bistro St. Michaels was served as stew ‘A’ in the tastings, with OysterFest participants voting Sunflowers & Greens of Easton, Md. (stew ‘D’) as the second place winner, and third place going to Roy’s Kwik Korner of Glen Burnie, (stew ‘E’). Other participants included Gourmet by the Bay of St. Michaels (stew ‘B’), Theo’s Steakhouse of St. Michaels (stew ‘C’), and Caney Creek Catering Co. of Prince Frederick, Md. (stew ‘F’).
