NICOLE SAPHOS JAZZ TRIO: For as long as she can remember, jazz bassist and singer-songwriter Nicole Saphos has reveled in the elegant emotionality of The Great American Songbook. After graduating from Temple University in 2012 with a Jazz Performance degree, the Los Angeles native relocated to Washington DC and began her professional music career in earnest. To date, she has performed at such venerated venues as The Kimmel Center, Lincoln Center, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Smithsonian American Art Museum. Nicole’s trio has coalesced around drummer Ele Rubenstein and guitarist John Lee. In the fall of 2016, she released her critically acclaimed debut album, “Tiptoe,” followed by Buzz & Bloom in 2018. www.nicolesaphos.com
Carpe Diem’s Music in the Gallery series is made possible with support from the Dock Street Foundation, and by a grant from the Talbot County Arts Council, with revenues provided by the Maryland State Arts Council.
