The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s ChesAdventures program begins February 7 and continues each Saturday in February, bringing age-appropriate, Chesapeake themed, hands-on activities and a take-home art project to children four to nine years old.

The four-session program runs through February 28, with advanced registration needed as participation is limited. On each of the dates, the four to six year old program runs from 10-12 noon, and the seven to nine year old program runs from 1-3 p.m.

Small classes and age-appropriate projects facilitate the learning process while offering kids a special place and opportunity to explore the Chesapeake’s unique people, animals, and environment. Each program is conducted inside and on the museum’s waterfront campus, and includes activities inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and historic vessels.

Enrollment in ChesAdventures engages children through hands-on games, arts and crafts, and storytelling. This year’s themes include “Oh Deer! It’s Winter!,” “We Heart Snow,” “Who Who Who knows about Owls,” and “Weir are the Fish? Fishing the Native American Way.”

The cost for the ChesAdventures program is $12 per class for museum members and $17 per class for non-members. A special four-session pass is available at $40 for museum members and $60 for non-members. Scholarships for individual sessions are available for qualifying students. To register or for more information, contact Allison Speight at [email protected] or 410-745-4941.
