Farmers and chefs from Spy country are headed to the Governor’s mansion on Thursday for the annual Buy Local Picnic. In celebration of Maryland’s Buy Local Week, July 23 to 31, teams of one chef and at least one waterman, farmer or producer were invited earlier this year to submit recipes. Winners will be serving up their recipes at the picnic to the Governor’s family, guests and also to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack.
Winning recipes can also be downloaded on July 21 at www.marylandsbest.net, just in time for the Buy Local Challenge, where you’re invited to enjoy one locally grown, made or harvested product every day from Saturday, July 23 to Sunday, July 31. Find out more about the Buy Local Challenge at www.buy-local-challenge.com.
